REGISTER A COMPLAINT AT NEAREST POLICE STATION

1. Call 108 , If the victim

  • Has sustained a serious injury
  • Is unconscious

2. Ensure victim’s safety

  • If the victim has bleeding wound, apply pressure to stop bleeding.
  • Get victim to a safe secure place.
  • Call the police if there are still any signs of danger from attacker.

3. Ensure Psychological First Aid (Emotional support)

  • Make sure the victim is not left alone.
  • Contact local helpline numbers and crisis centers hotline for support and information

4. Do not clean up before receiving Medical Attention

  • To preserve the evidence, the victim should not bathe, go to the washroom, comb her hair or change clothes until she has received medical examination. Do not clean up the site of assault

5. Go to nearest hospital for medical check up immediately

Ask the hospital to take a urine sample to test for date rape drugs. Some date rape drugs leave the body very quickly. If you wait to get help, it may be difficult to prove that drugs were involved. For this reason, it is important to get medical help as quickly as possible.

  • Medical professional will use a rape kit to collect hair, semen, clothing fibers and other evidence of the attacker
  • Even if the victim is not sure she wants to report the rape, it is advisable to collect and preserve evidence for later use if necessary
  • If the victim wishes to report the hospital staff will call the police from the emergency room

6. Register a complaint to nearest police station

After a sexual assault, you may feel fear, shame, guilt, or shock. All of these feelings are normal. Each survivor can feel a different range of emotions at different times in the healing process. Even if you wanted to drink alcohol or take drugs at the time, sexual assault is never your fault. You may be afraid to think about talking about the assault, but it is important to get help.
